Podiatry & Foot Surgery
When it comes to selecting a location
for your podiatric surgery, it is important to consider not
only your physical well-being, but your emotional needs as
well. Our thoughtful staff understands your concerns and will
take the time to make sure you are comfortable throughout
your visit with us at IMSC. You can also rest easy, knowing
that IMSC is one of the most advanced surgical care facilities
in Southern California.
Podiatric surgery includes the removal of bunions, treatment
of heel spurs, arch problems, foot pain and ankle pain; sprained
ankle and foot injuries, deformities, infections; and foot
conditions associated with diseases such as diabetes. The
foot may be the first area to show signs of serious podiatry
conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease.
For example, diabetics are prone to foot ulcers and infections
due to poor circulation.
We also offer extracorporeal shockwave therapy at IMSC. Extracorporeal
means "outside the body." Shock waves are created
by very strong acoustic (sound) energy, to reduce chronic
foot pain such as heel spurs. The shock wave generator is
very similar to the shock wave devices used to treat kidney
stones without surgery. The shock waves are created by a spark
plug that is enclosed in a soft plastic dome filled with water.
During ESWT treatment, this dome is placed close against the
heel so that the shock waves pass through the dome to the
heel. ESWT treatment has been found to be effective for treating
chronic proximal plantar fasciitis, a condition that causes
pain in the heel of the affected foot and is sometimes called
"heel spurs."
Whether you have a sprained ankle or need bunion surgery or
foot surgery, the knowledgeable staff at IMSC is here to help.
We work with many podiatry specialists, so please feel free
